Backee Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
In short: Backee collects nothing about you. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads. Your files go only to the places you choose to back them up, and the sign-ins and passwords you give Backee stay on your PC.
Who makes Backee
Backee is a free backup app for Windows, made by one person under the name Markticulous. In this policy, "we" means Markticulous.
What we collect
Nothing. Backee does not send us your files, your file names, your settings, your usage or any information about your PC. It has no telemetry and no crash reporting, and we run no servers that Backee talks to.
What stays on your PC
Backee keeps the following on your own computer, so that it can do its job:
- Your backup settings, the history of backups and restores, and a log, in
C:\ProgramData\Backee. - Your personal settings, such as the theme, in
%LocalAppData%\Backee. - The encryption passwords, cloud access keys and cloud sign-ins you enter. These are protected by Windows (DPAPI) and can be read only by the Backee service on that PC. They are never shown again and never leave your computer, except when they are used to sign in to the service you chose.
Uninstalling Backee and deleting these folders removes all of it.
Where your files go
Your files go only to the backup destinations you set up: a drive or folder on your PC, a synced folder, an S3-compatible bucket, your OneDrive or your Google Drive. Backee sends them directly from your PC to that place. They never pass through us.
If you turn on encryption, Backee encrypts your backup with your password (AES-256) before it leaves your PC. Nobody can open it without that password, including us.
Google Drive
If you choose to back up to Google Drive, Backee asks Google for two permissions:
- See, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files that Backee uses (
drive.file). Backee can reach only the files and folders it creates itself, in a folder called Backee in your My Drive. It cannot see any of your other files. - Your email address, so Backee can show which Google account a backup uses.
Backee uses this access only to store, list, read and remove your backups in that folder, on your PC, for you. The data goes directly between your PC and Google. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, never sold, never used for advertising, and never read by a person.
Backee's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can remove Backee's access at any time in your Google Account, under Your connections to third-party apps and services. Removing access does not delete the backups already in your Drive; delete the Backee folder there if you no longer want them.
Microsoft OneDrive
If you choose to back up to OneDrive, Backee asks Microsoft for access to its own app folder only (Files.ReadWrite.AppFolder), plus your basic profile so it can show which account a backup uses. Backee cannot see your other OneDrive files. As with Google Drive, the data goes directly between your PC and Microsoft and never to us.
You can remove Backee's access at any time at account.live.com/consent/Manage.
Other connections
Backee connects only to the backup destinations you set up. It opens a web page, such as the User Guide, Ko-fi or this page, only when you click a link, and then your browser loads it as usual.
Children
Backee is not aimed at children, and since it collects nothing, it collects nothing from children either.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
