Backee Terms of Service
Last updated: October 15, 2026
In short: Backee is free. Use it as you like, but you are responsible for your own data: keep your encryption password safe, check now and then that your backups restore, and keep more than one copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Backee comes with no guarantee.
Agreement
These terms apply to Backee, a backup app for Windows made by Markticulous ("we"). By installing or using Backee, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Backee. How Backee handles your information is described in the Backee Privacy Policy.
Using Backee
Backee is free to download and use, at home or at work. There are no accounts and no subscription. Backee is in beta: features may change, and some may not yet work as described.
Please do not sell Backee, pass it off as your own, or change it to harm other people. The Backee name and logo belong to Markticulous.
Your data is your responsibility
- Your password. If you encrypt a backup and lose its password, that backup cannot be opened by anyone, including us. We cannot recover or reset it.
- Check your backups. Restore a few files now and then to make sure your backups contain what you expect.
- Keep more than one copy. A single backup can be lost with the drive or account it lives on. Keep important data in more than one place.
- Only back up what you are allowed to. Use Backee only for data you have the right to copy and store, and only in ways that are legal where you are.
Other services you connect
When you back up to Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, an S3-compatible service or a synced folder, your use of that service is governed by its own terms and pricing. Storage space, fees and limits are between you and that service. We are not responsible for those services, their availability, or changes they make that stop Backee from working with them.
Support Markticulous
Supporting Markticulous, for example through Ko-fi, is entirely voluntary. Backee works fully without it. A contribution is a gift: it does not buy a product, extra features or support, and it is handled under the terms of the service you use to send it.
No warranty
Backee is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that Backee will be free of errors, that it will run without interruption, or that it will back up or restore every file.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Markticulous is not liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages that come from using, or not being able to use, Backee, even if we were told such damage was possible. Some places do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Ending
You can stop using Backee at any time by uninstalling it. Your backups stay where you stored them until you delete them.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Using Backee after a change means you accept the new terms.
